HERE TODAY, GONE TOMORROW

by Stan C. Countz
The thing to remember is how
Fleeting this all is.
Here today. Gone tomorrow.
Pop, pop, fizz, fizz

Like the grass, we will pass away
Life is a mad dash and full of sorrow
You sow, you reap, you give, you take
You beg, you steal, you borrow

You fall to sleep, you dream, you wake
You're here today. You'e gone tomorrow.
But what lessons will you learn?
Will you lead or will you follow?

What bridges will you build or burn?
Will your life be deep or hollow?
Will you make the same mistakes or learn?
Is your pride too great to swallow?

Will you be a master of debate?
Or in self-pity will you wallow?
Will they burn you at the stake?
Will you take or will you borrow?

What legacy will you leave behind?
How will you be remembered?
As one who seeks but never finds
Or one who's heart was tender?

By sin we've been tainted and infected
We're here today and gone tomorrow
But He was despised and rejected
A man acquainted with our sorrows
